Social Media for Nonprofits
09:00 AM at Goodman Community Center (Length: 1hr)
“ProjectGirl.org is a small non-profit based in Oregon WI. In Feb of 2009 they had the opportunity to pursue a grant from BestBuy. Best Buy set it up that teenagers age 13 - 18 would vote on one of four nonprofits after they signed up and were active on their teen activism site at15.com. This presentation will share with you how 3 people, the two founders of ProjectGirl - Jane Bartell and Kelly Park Snider along with Wendy Soucie, used social media, email, and mobilization in 3 months to WIN the grant. Presenter will be Wendy Soucie and Kelly Parks Snider.”
PROJECT GIRL is a ground-breaking girl-led, arts-based initiative created to enable girls to become better informed critical consumers of mass media advertising and entertainment. In other words, to become more media literate.
